All about juicing…
1) If you’re only juicing fruit that’s a LOT of sugar. Experiment with veg, carrots and cucumber are light flavours. Add a small amount and up the amount each time you juice. Your tastebuds will get used to the change.
2) It gives your digestion system a break. Juices don’t need as much of the stomachs digestive process (churning, acid and pepsin). So those who frequently suffer from acid reflux problems could certainly benefit from a plant/veg based juice break.
3) Done for a while, your body will miss the fibre, carbs, sodium and other essential vitamins and minerals. If you’re prone to hypertension (low blood pressure), or often dizzy when you stand up, it could make you feel more so.
4) Better nutrient absorption. Raw foods contains a higher nutrient content than cooked. With less energy being used to digest the food the body will concentrate on absorbing as many nutrients as possible.
Have a look at a few recipes online and see what intrigues you. If you’re trying juices and you don’t like the taste it’s just creating a bad relationship with food. Try a fruit to veg ration of 3:1 to start with if you’re unfamiliar with them and change it gradually.
