What is HIIT?
High Intensity Interval Training involves short burst of high intensity exercise followed by short recovery periods.
It’s designed with exercises to get your heart rate up and burns much more calories in a shorter amount of time.
High intensity forces the body into a physiological effect known as excess post-exercise oxygen consumption or EPOC. (Which means the body creates an oxygen deficit with this great effort and has to work harder to replenish the oxygen after the exercise.)
This afterburn effect increases your metabolic rate by up to a third so the body continues to burn calories at a faster rate up to 36 hours after the exercise.
I love HIIT because it gives back so much. The last few years I’ve used heart rate training with myself and clients to achieve fantastic weight loss results. Once you know the science of how and when the body burns fat faster it makes exercise so much easier. Its like if you were to fill up your car with fuel or do the weekly shop and asked just to go a little bit further to get it, but you’d get a third extra for free…? Yes please! The exercises I’ve designed will give you great core strength and joint stability. These usually come from lots of weight training which can be time consuming for a busy life. They will also improve your agility as you become more familiar with the routine. Using your own body weight means you don’t need extra equipment, I’m teaching you techniques you can do at home to maintain your goals.
